COTTON.
Bears Predominating.
New York N. Y.. May 25. The do-
mestic cotton market are easier the
bearish feeling generally predominant
in both divisions. More favorable
weather over the belt causes the prices
to rule easv. The volume of trade is
l small and the changes small. There is
an abundant amount of moisture in the
ground for some time to come now and
with a few days of sunshine there will
be a wonderful change.
Spots Steady.
New Orleans. La.. May 25. The cot-
ton market rules dull with a feeling
largely bearish. Wsather conditions
are again becoming the dominating
feature. Spots are quiet and steady.
Business Moderate.
Liverpool. Eng. May 25. There was
under a moderate business in spot cot-
ton today and the demand dull. Sales
were made on a basis of six English
points the lowest middlings bringing
S.07d in English values or $16.14 in
American values. Futures opened quiet
and steady and ruled steady on a range
of 3 to 4 points lower.

low 30.000 head andhe spread of prices
between the finished catte and warmed
up kinds was not as pronounced as is
due at this season of the year. Prime
cattle sold firm all week and the de-
mand for cheap beef is such that the
lower grades were readily taken with-
out much decline. Packers are insist-
ing on reductions on the medium priced
cattle that have ieen selling under
$7.25 but so far have been satisfied to
refrain from cutting the price much
because of the free arrival of grass and
cake cattle from the south which lat-
ter sell at $5.00" to $6.50 and fill the bill
for low priced meats. The run today
was estimated at C000 head early but
totaled 9000 head before the final count
quarantine division. Steers are sellln
strong to 10c higher nothing strictly
choice included top $S.15 and bulk of
steers in native division at $6.50 to
$7.90. a few common steers under $6.00

bring $4.00 to $6.75 heifers $4.75 to
$7.40. bulls $4.25 to $6.50 veals $6.50 to

stockers and feeders are holding steady
with recent declines and the demand is
ample to absorb the supply stocker3
at $4.00 to $6.00 feeders $5.25 to $6.20.
Hog supply last week was 52000
j head fairly liberal for this year.
but 30000 head less than same week
last year. Packers are disappointed in
the hog runs and are forced to pay
stronger- prices this month than they
had counted on. in fact the market 13
advancing a little each week and hot
stands at the highest point of the
month. Run today Is 8000 head mar-
ket 5c higher after an attempt on ths
part of buyers to get them at steady
prices top $9.62 bulk of sales close
up to the top at $9.45 to $9.57. Light
hogs bring up to $9.55 and total spread
In prices is not more than 25 cents be-
tween top and bottom for all weights
except pigs which bring around $9.25.
Sheep supply is about normal fo?
this season of the year and the mar-
ket is dropping the last week or two.
Recent imports of dressed mutton from
Australia and the fact that 12000 car-
casses are en route for that port have
had a depressing Influence and packers
are determined to put the price at a
figure that will wipe out any profit tht
might be made on the expected Im-
portation. The run Is 9000 here today
market 15 to 25c lower lambs worth
$7.50 to $9.00 about $8.50 the limit on
shorn lambs wethers worth up to $6.50
and ewes at $4.50 5.85. Texas muttons
are sharply lower than recent prices
and range from $4.25' to $5.75 "goats
worth around $3.75. Packers are buy-
ing very few goats but country de-
mand is strong and sufficient to take
everything offered at the price men-
tioned. Kansas City Livestock Close.
