Murder, beautiful girls and
comedy all move into the Martin
Theatre t:day only, with the
showing of “Grand Central Mur-
der.” The murder is the pivot
point of the plot in the new
mystery thriller, one beauty is
the victim; several others are
included as suspects, and comedy
runs riot throughout.
Patricia Dane is the glamorous
stage star found dead in her pri-
vate car on a siding of the Grand
Central Terminal. No less than
ten people are discovered who
would have liked nothing better
the opportunity.
One of them is Van Heflin, who
also happens to be a private de-
tective. When Sam Levene, as
usual the bungling inspector,
finds the case too involved, Hef-
lin takes over. One by one he
clears nine of the suspects. Then
he reveals how the crime
committed, and how just
person could have done it.
Heflin is outstanding in his
role as the nonchalant sleuth
with a sense of humor. Miss
Dane, too, turns in a Capable per-
formance, showing indications of
stardom ahead'.

Australian troops, wearing camouflage on their helmets, trudge along
through a swampy part of the New Guinea jungle near Milne Bay. The
Japs attempted to take this eastern section of New Guinea as part of
the drive on Port Moresby, but when they arrived the Aussie forces
were waiting for them. After a week of fighting, Hirohito’s troops
were wiped out. (Central Press)
