CHICAGO, January 24 (ZP) —
The striking AFL meat packers'
union today telegraphed all its
locals to “stand by for instruc-
tions from our general office.”
The union, with 70,000 mem-
bers on strike in the meat pack-
ing industry, yesterday ordered
its membership to resume work
Saturday, when the government
is to seize all strikebound proper-
ties of the industry.
“Up to the present time, we
have not received an official
seizure order,” the telegram read,
“therefore stand by for further
instructions.

AUSTIN, January 24 (AP) —
Comptroller Gorge Sheppard to-
day asked Attorney General Gro-
ver Sellers to rul on the pay-
ment of his January salary to
Harry Benge Crozier, whose
nomination as a member of the
Texas Unemployment Compen-
sation Commission was rejected
by the Senate in executive session
Monday.
Crozier was an interim ap-
pointee of Governor Stevenson
and was the only one rejected by
the Senate.
The opinion is expected to bring
the first official ruling as to the
legality of the Senate’s solo ses-
sion into which it called itself for
the sole purpose of considering
nominations by the Governor.
