Hundreds of years before Jesus was born of a virgin
God had foretold through His prophets that He would es-
tablish an everlasting kingdom upon this earth. Isa. 2:2-3,
Dan. 2:44. . . ' 1
—— While. ,J.esus...was on the earth He proclaimed, “Upon
this rock I will build my cfiurch; ah'3 thfe ’gates of’hell shall
riot prevail against it.” Matt. 16:18. We know the chych
is the kingdom because in the very next verse (Matt. 1^ )
Jesus promised Peter “the keys of the kingdom” which Peter
used on the day of Pentecost to tell devout Jews how to be-
come members df the church. Acts. 2:37-47.
Therefore, the kingdom was set up during the days of
the. apostles with Christ as King seated at God’s right hand.
Acts 2:32-36. There He has been reigning 1900 years and will
continue until such time^ as He comes again, all enemies
having been put under His feet. 1 Cor. 1 Jr:20-26. The last enemy
to be destroyed being death which shall be accomplished at
-the resurrection.
In Acts 20:28 Paul states plainly that Christ purchased
the church with His, own bloqd. To say. then, that one can be
saved outside the church as well as- in it, is to take the po?
sition that CHrist shed HisJolo^d in vain. Surely Christ woui4 -
not pay so great a price for^fiftnon-essential institution.
In Acts 2:47 the inspired writer Luke said, “And the I
Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” Ini 1
the light of this statement where would you look for a saved! I
individual? Where would you find everyone of them?
In Eph. 1:22-23 Paul says the body is the church; ana ‘in,fl
Eph. 5:23 he says Christ “is the saviour of body1.” Where must™
one be if Christ is his saviour? 1
