Road Surfacing
Projects for 1956
The Texas Highway Depart-
ment has announced that the
first step has been taken, that
will set up a new program of
highway work for the year 1956.
The nine-county North Texas
district projects total $923,000.
This figure is 20 percent higher
than the 1955 allotment. This
new program is especially de-
signed to protect the investment
already made in the State sys-
tem of roads.
L. B. Dean, district engineer
of the Texas Highway Depart-
ment at Wichita Falls has stated
that the following work is sched-
uled for Montague County under
this program: State Highway 59,
from Montague to 3 miles east of
Bowie, 7.7 miles, leveling and
resurfacing. $31,200; FM 103,
fiotn 9.2 miles north of Nocona
to Spanish Fort, 7.5 miles, seal
coat, $9,400.
It was announced that work
will begin on these projects just
as soon as plans and specifica-
tions can be completed. Resident
Engineer, L. S. Partridge, will
be in charge of the work in Mon-
tague county.
