was honored with a tea shower
at the home of Mrs. Joe Black
Saturday afternoon, from four to
six. The co-hostesses were Mmes.
Norris Pope, James Hurae, Rufus
Meadows and Misses Annetta
Redfearn, Jerry Craig and Doio-
thy Tidwell.
The rooms were lovely with
unusual arrangements of flow-
ers in the bride’s chosen colors
of blue and green. In the re-
ceiving line were Mrs. Black,
Miss Genrty, Mrs. William Gen-
try. the bride’s mother, and Mrs.
C. A. Jones and Mrs. Helen Guil-
lory, aunts of the bride from

the dining room by Mrs. Pope.

ton went on to New York to see

One lovely candle made for the
bride by Mrs. Fate Moore, who
also did the arrangements, com-
pleted the decorations.
Miss Janice Gentry, sister of
the bride, presided at the punch
bowl. Miss Linda Sue McCain
served dainty cakes. Miss Eliza-
beth Caldwell assisted in the
dining, town.

at Pony League Field Saturday
evening. In the latter game, Tem-
ple and Hall teamed up on the
mound for the Mustangs to allow
the Saints only one hit, a triple,
by Newsome in the fourth inn-
mg. y
In this''game the Mustangs
scored twice in the third and four
times in the fourth, and the
Saints posted their tallies two tn
the fourth and one in the seventh.
The Mustangs had a total of sev-
en hits with Temple and Glover
sharing the honors at two for
four each
The White Sox and the Piggies
led off the evening’s play, with
the Sox scoring twice in the
first, three in the third, one in
the lifth and two in the seventh.
These came off a total cf eleven
hits with Rex Allen getting a
perfect three for three, and Chip-
man naving three for four.
The Piggies made it rough in
the first inning with four mar*
ken. but could pick up only one
more in the fourth.,. These came
off five hits, with Price leaning
at two. for three.

Republican pressure, -House Dem-
ocratic leaders agreed today to
let the House vote next week on
a bill-to boost postal rates by an
estimated 430 million dollars.
Democratic Leader McCormack 1
of Massachusetts, who is opposed
to the measure, told the House the
bill would come up for a vote next
Monday.
McCormack made the announce-
ment dfter Rep. Allen of Illinois,
senior Republican member of the
I er had recommended $582,377,000.
Last year Congress voted $616.-
327,000 for such work.
The bill will become final if both
