Mostly dear skies prevailed in
Texas today and another scorcher
was in prospect ■»

South Texas coast and some loaf-
ed along over West Texas find
the Panhandle, but the rest of
the state was clear.
Pre-dawn temperatures ranged
from Bl at Wichita Falls down to
62 at Dalhart. Temperatures Sun-
day ranged from 105 at Presidio,
to B4 at Brownsville.
- Official rainfall reports for tl<
24 hours ending at 6:30 p.m Sun-
day included: Victoria .15 of an
inch, dollege Station .22 and Dal-
hart .15. Amarillo had .10 of an

men will meet in Atlanta within
a few days to explore the possi-
bility of a get-together of South-
ern delegates sometime before
the national convention in Chi-
cago in .August.
Tinimerman said five Southern
governors had replied favorably
to his suggestion for such a
meeting. He declined to name
them ' 7
Timmerman denied he was
backing a third party movement
but said that he, for one- isn’t
ready to accept a Deniocratic
platform declaration that goes
even as far as to uphold the Su-
preme Court’s school segregation
decision
His objective, the governor
said, is to have the South pres-
ent a “united, front” at the con-
vention. “We are trving to get
our party to adopt a platform
and nominate a candidate ac-
ceptable to the South so that
those who are tryine to establish
a third party won’t succeed,” he
said. -
