REAL WORK BEGINS
SOON ON THE DAM
The preliminaries have about been
fought at the big Elephant Butte dam-
site and as soon as the necessary ma-
chinery can be installed the big fight
the construction of the Elephant Butte
dam will begin. This chief engineer
A. P. Davis of the reclamation serv-

"One of the first things that will
have to be done at the damsite will be
the construction of a flume to bypass
the river around the location of the
construction work while it is in pro-

"Then the machinery will be in-

and the overhead tramways installed
After that the time of construction
cannot be estimated within 25 percent
of the exact time of finishing the -dam

his Injuries his chances of recovery
this morning are pronounced "fair."
It Is too soon after the sliooting
however for the attending physicians
to predict the 'outcome with any cer-

One paving factor w&s that the
bullets were steel small and of high

being clean.

had been heard to say he bore a grudge
