YOUNG-ENGLISH
LAD IHSUEBECTQ
Boy Is an Englishman and
an -Orphan Has Had
Stirring Life.
Te youngest insurrecto in the
American division with Madero's men
outside of Juarez is not an American.
His name is Conway Connors and he
hails from Xondon England. He has
been with the insurrectos one month
and is orderly to Capt. Iandefelt. He
says there are 60 Americans n the
command 55 of whom are armed
while the others are just ordinary ho-
boes. Four years ago Connors then but
13 years of age' tired of the humdrum
existence of an orphan boy in the big
city of London and started out to see
the world. He stowed away' on the
steamer Empress Britain bound for
Montreal Canada. When two days
out he was caught and the captain
wanted to send him back but when
he told him that he had no relatives
in England the captain set him to
washing dishes and brought him over.
At Montreal he boarded a train for
Toronto and the conductor never asked
him for his fare. He wandered about
the country working with Hagen-
beck's and "Wallace and Campbell's
circuses doing acrobatic stunts a
posture act and riding in the races.
However he tired of this life and Went
to Chicago where he was employed in
several department stores and then
wen to Kansas City Mo. where he
was engaged in similar work. Thence
he went to Port Richmond Cal. where
he was employed by the (Standard Oil
company. He came to El Paso about
three months ago and went to Chi-
huahua and then returned to El Paso
making his home on North El Paso
street but refused to give the name
of the people with whom he resided.
He attended the Sunset school until
the bloody war broke out.
He says -that he was born at 53
Great Percy street Clinton WelL up
near the 'bloomin' angel in London
