verdict of acquittal returned in Mi-
lam County district court during
the past two years and nine
months, was returned by a jury
here Sunday when Monroe Fisher
was acqtffted of the murder of AU
bert W. Bonds, former Beil Coun-
ty sheriff.
Fisher was the third man in 182

rival claims of its “mayor."

Judge Joseph Milner, who was
scheduled to rule on legality of the
City Council's right to appoint a
mayor to succeed John DuvalL
Duvall was ousted by the Coun-
cil last week as a result of hte
conviction for "corrupt practices"
in the 1925 election, but he al-
ready had resigned when the Coun-
cil voted him out.
Judge Milner was expected to
uphold the mayorallty rights of
Claud Negley appointed by the
City Council to serve as mayor pro
tern until Nov. 8, when a perma-
nent city executive will be appoint-
ed.
