Teachers Hear Dr. Carmichael Monday
BRECKENRIDGE — The
Tri-County Texas State Teach-
ers Association met iu Brec-
kenridge Monday at 6 p. m. in
the High School Cafteria with
Dr. Bill Carmichael, professor
of education at Sam Houston
State Teachers College and
vice president of the Texas
State Teachers Association, as
guest speaker. He wa.s intro-
duced by John Culwell, super-
intendent of Breckenridge
schools.
Dr. Carmichael spoke on the
r-T-nhlems of teachers. He said
that according to an NEA sur-
vey, teacher^ sell themselves
short. He feels that there are
good teachers who know their
subject matter ar-d that thev
should let others know this is
a good profession. He stated
that there are all kinds of
teaching machines today, hut
“children will always need the
teachers for the love and in-
spiration they give the chil-
dren.” “Teachers who care
will see through the child’s
heart and l°t him know he is Wednesday
meeting.
Rev. Briscoe presented sam- I
pie copies of an employment
application drawn up by the s
committee. The chamber made |
minor changes following dis-
cussion. The application

sent a request for recommen-
dations for candidates for the
Countv School Board. March
4 is the filing deadline '"or a

is set for Saturday, April 4.
