Mrs. Pat Guffee of Pat’s
Hideaway Ceramics pre-
sented a program on cera-
mics for the Town and
Country club meeting Aug.
18.
Mrs. Guttee showed se-
veral ceramics in different
stages and explained what
a worker had to do to
complete a project.
She assured the mem-
bers it wasn’t near as
complicated as it sounded.
Mrs. Edith Alexander
called the meeting to order
with Mrs. Mayme Lewis
leading the club prayer,
Mrs. Maggie Ball the club
pledge and Mrs. Pansy
Miller the pledge of alle-
giance.
Mrs. Martha Biggerstaff
read the minutes of the last
meeting, gave the treasu-
rer’s report and the roll
call.
The thought for the day
was given by Mrs. Pansy
Miller. The 10 members
and one visitor, Jamie Gen-
try, sang Happy Birthday in
observance of Mrs. Miller’s
birthday.
Mrs. Vera Wetzel re-
ceived the door prize.
Mrs. Jewel Jarvis and
Mrs. Alexander served re-
freshments.
The next meeting will be
Sept. 1.

Leroy K. Martin Singing
Convention Sunday after-
noon, Aug. 29, between 2
and 5 p.m. at the church at
the corner of Harris Street
and Radio Hill Road in
Gainesville.
The singing convention
will honor the Rev. Leroy
K. Martin, pastor of the
New Faith Baptist church,
who has served as pastor of
Baptist churches at Pilot
Grove, Trenton and Cherry
Mound and a number of
other places.
The convention will fea-
ture such gospel groups as
The Joyful Sound, The
Andersons, The Sojour-
ners, Proclamation, Texas

Mrs. Mary Ellen Bush,
who was 98 years of age
Tuesday, Aug. 24, was
honored with a reception
Sunday afternoon at the
Whitewright nursing home.
Mrs. Bush was born
Aug. 24, 1884, at Pilot
Grove, the daughter of
William and Eleanor Cato.
She was married to E.J.
Bush who died in 1935.
Mrs. Bush has lived in
the Whitewright area all of
her life and has lived at the
Whitewright nursing home
since last November.
Mrs. Bush has seven
living children. They are
Travis Bush, Vaden Bush,
John Bush and Mrs. Ruby
Grammer, all of White-
wright; J.D. Bush and Mrs.
Alda Young of Sherman
and Mrs. Velma Mackey of
Trenton.
Two children, Lyndel
Bush and Mrs. Ona Bar-
rett, have died.
She has 14 grandchil-
dren, 26 great grandchil-
dren and four great, great
grandchildren.
There were 52 guests
who attended the recep-
tion. They were from
Whitewright, Sherman,
Trenton, Bells, Dallas, Me-
squite, Leonard, Savoy,
Southmayd, Copeville, Far-
mersville, Gunter and
Gainesville.
