Funeral services will be held
Sunday afternoon at City Cemetery
for Cpl. Clifford R. Thompson who
was killed in action in the Argonne
battle Sept. 24, 1918. The body

Wednesday where she joined a party
of friends for an automobile trip to

J.P.Judd has sold his drug store to
John Garland.
Another big rain fell here Sunday
delaying cotton picking.-Pilot Grove
News.
Relatives and friends honored J.E.
Smith with a birthday dinner at his
home north of town Sunday. It. was
his 4th birthday.

iage at the Luella First Baptist
Church.
The Rev. Larry Melhart of the

The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Henry A. Brewer of
Dallas, she is a graduate of Sherman
High School and is attending Gray-
son County College.
She is employed by Industrial
Welding Products at Sherman.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Eldon Ray Taylor of
Whitewright. He graduated from
Whitewright High School and atten-

Whitewright's new gymnasium and
auditorium will be officially opened
Friday night with an entertainment
program furnished by the Denison
Chamber of Commerce. A water-
melon supper will follow.
Up to Wednesday night, the three
Whitewright gins had ginned 2,604
bales of cotton from the 1936 crop.
Miss Dorothy Hamilton will go to
Justin this week where she will
teach school this year.
Miss Martha Jo Sears has accepted vice-presidents; Mrs. R.E. Hickman’
secretary; Mrs. J.M. Henry, treasu-
rer; Mrs. Hoyt Taylor, spiritual life;
music- Mrs. J.W. Wilson, Hospital sewing,
. Officers elected by the Baptist and Miss Guyla Sears, pianist.
Joe Meador returned Saturday
from a meeting of the board of
directors of Orchid Digest Corpora-
tion Seattle, Wash., and Vancouver,
British Columbia.
The Asa Walker school building at
Desert was sold for $1,675 at an
auction held at the school Saturday.
Red Bow and Dale Clower purchas-
ed the building.
John Harvey was honored with a
birthday dinner on his 67th birthday
Sunday by his wife and children.
The sons and daughters of John W.
and Mollie Burden met at the home
of J.H. Burden in Ladonia for a
NTSC, Bobby DeBerry, David brother and sister reunion.
George Hight, program chairman
for the Rotary club, showed two
movie short subjects at his theater
for the program Friday.

Gifts totaling more than $3,000 had
been received by Mrs. Tom Chris-
tian for use in the beautification and
improvement programs at Oak Hill
and City cemeteries.
Whitewright had raised 45 percent
of its goal in the United Way
campaign, Mrs. Sandra Shaw, chair-
man, announced.
Supt. Larry Threadgill announced
that Whitewright had been approved
for a grant in the amount of $50,000
Thursday by the Health Education Welfare for
implementing a reading program for
students who read below their grade
level.
The Chamber of Commerce set the
annual Christmas parade for 2 p.m.
on Dec. 3 with trophies for first,
second and third place entries.
The First Baptist Church announ-
ced a youth-led revival with Paul

Sean Craig celebrated his third
birthday last weekend with a birth-
day party at home. Attending were
his family and friends.
Sean is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Jeff Craig of Whitewright. He has
one brother, Chris, and one sister
Kara.
Frontier Village Hosts
Old Fashioned Picnic
Frontier Village, Inc. is having an
Old Fashioned Picnic with Lots of
Music and Fun for everyone.
