father, James Clayton Smith.

James Clayton Smith, well known
in Nocona, was found dead inn bed
last Saturday morning at A/dmore,
Oklahoma, at the home of a sister,
we understand. The body was brought
to Nocona for burial and the funeral
was held at the family home Sunday
afternoon, services being conducted
by Rev. W. R. McCarter. The burial
was immediately after at the Nocona
Cemetery.
The children, who survive, are Mrs.
Jack Foster, Waldine and June, and
James. To these we extend our sin-
cerest sympathy.

ham last week to attend the North
Texas District Conference as a dele-
gate from the Woman’s Missionary
Society Auxiliary at Nocona. Mrs.
Vaughan went to Myra this week as
a delegate to the Gainesville District
Conference.

started on the upward path it is usually al-
most impossible to stop him. The problem

An Easter Egg Hunt was given
the litle folks of the Central Chris-
tian Sunday School at W. E. Wil-
ton’s pasture Saturday afternoon.'
About fifty were present. After the
hunt, a picnic lunch was served.
The Ladies Aid Society will hold
their regular meeting each Tuesday
at 3:00 o’clock. »I i fl
The Special B. Y. P. U. Train
leaves the Baptist Church for Bel- went to Iowa Park Friday and Satur-
cherville Sunday afternoon at 2:00 day for the District Meet. The
weather for the Meet was fine and a
good time was enjoyed by all.
There were nine Counties and the
City of Wichita Farts entered in
this meet and had contestants in
most all events.
The points won by these schools
were as follows: Wichita, 102; Elec-
tra, 84 1-2; Nocona, 18 1-2; Henriet-
ta, 14; Burkburnett, 14; and Graham,
12. While we did not win first place,
we feel proud of our school that we
had third place.
There will be a base ball game at
the park beteween Henrietta and
Nocona school teams Friday at 4:00
o'clock. We think we will have a
good team and will be glad to have
you come.
The school will give the play,
Jack and the Bean Stalk, Friday and
Saturday nights.
Lillie Bowman has gone to her
home at Rochester oh account of

and finish this year. \

Senator Guinn Williams of Deca-
tur opened his campaign for Con- j
gress last Saturday afternoon, in a|
speech to what was perhaps the big-
gest crowd ever gathered at Nocona
for an occasion of this kind. It was
representative gathering of people
from all parts of the Thirteenth Dis-
rest room with every con- trict that heard Mr. Williams, it
a Williams crowd, too. Some two
hundred or more of came from De-
catur and Wise County, as well as
many from all parts of Montague
County.
From the attenetion and applause
Mr. Williams received, his position
on issues of the day was most em-
phatically approved by the large
audience of ladies a\id men.
Rev. W. R. McCarter introduced
Tom McMurray of Decatur, who as
a life long friend of Mr. Williams,
o'clock. We expect a large repre-
sentation of the B. Y. P. U. to
catch this train. If you have a car
to link on to this train, we urge that
you come pnd bring it.
