MEETING TUESDAY EVENING
Sixteen members of the Young Wo-
men's Auxiliary met Tuesday evening
evening ut the home of Miss Marjorie
Stewart with Miss Stewart and Misa
■Laura D. Gibson as hostesses.
Preceding the meeting a delicious
course of sandwiches, potato chips,
deviled eggs, and ice team was serv-
ed.
Miss Aubrey Greenwood called the
meeting to order and the minutes of
the preceding meeting were read and
adopted. The following personal ser-
vice report was given:
Flowers 1; help 7; baskets 0;.visits
18; nursing sick 2; charity $4.50; soul
talks 18; letters of cheer 0; good Ht-
elnt ure 0.
The opening prayer was given by
Miss Stewart with sentence prayers by
other members. A book on Y. W. A.

Miss Sangster opened the many gifts
which held exquisite linen pieces.
On returning to the reception room
the guests found bridge accessories
replaced with pretty Easter refresh-
ment trays. Covers of Easter design
Jn pastel shades were centered with
small lavender hat boxes with raised
tops tied in lavender and yellow satin
bows and filled with lavender Easter
bonnet cakes. Maiden hair fern encir-
cled these centerpieces which made at-
tractive cut prizes. Frilly lavender
nutcups also featured the Easter motif.
The refreshment plate served stuffed
crab, hot rolls, Gherken pickles, cof-
fee, peas in potato nests, moulded
salad, lavender and yellow mints.

The department is called upon to
supply many "tbouseaux’’. They usual-
ly consist of the white dresses, shoes,
sashes and other garments salvaged
from the piles of clothing given the
bureau.
Nothing is wasted that can possibly
serve humanity. In a corner Of the
room is. the laboratory of Vincent An-
gele, gray-haired alumnus of a Swiss
tailoring school, who performs sarto-
rial miracles. * <
Angele can take a size S8 man’s suit
and with a few whacks of his shears
and a few turns* of his sewing mach-
ine, reduce it to a stylishr'38, a pair of
boy’s* pants and a couple of fair pot-
lifters.
Recently Angele was handed the
strangest garment yet to reach the de-
partment—a lady’s tweed riding en-
semble, the coat partially lined with
fine chamois skin. Soon it will be I
converted Into pants and overcoats foi |
a little boy.
The department even has found a
use for the sacks in which coffee is
shipped. They ap stuffed with moss
to make malresses.
Dozens of calls have been received
for shrouds.
“We keep a little stock for the pur-
pose”, said Mrs. Crosby. "We try to
furnish the sort of garment requested.

The meeting was then turned over

tion on American cheese making, at
the end oT a few hours work, several

away to ripen.

ville and Klein girls played a game of
volley ball. The Klein school girls
won. The score was 39 to 36. Two fif-
teen minute quarters were played. Al-
so today at 4:00 o’clock we played an-
other game with Plantersville, but we
are sorry to say that today they won.
