ceived word last week that their
grandson, B. V. Ezzell, who is sta-
tioned at Camp Perry, Va., had
been injured and was in the hos-
pital there.

Sunday afternoon callers with Cpl.
and Mrs. Louie White and Mattie

P. T. A. Plans Carnival
The P. T. A. of Newport had its
first meeting of the year Monday,
October 2, 1944, when the follow-
ing Officers were elected: Mrs. Bob
Broom, president; Mrs. Luther Mc-
Manus, vice-president; Mrs. Leon-
ard Hickman, secretary and treas-
urer.
They made plans for Newport’s
big Hallowe’en Carnival to be held
Friday night, October 28. The car-
nival will be one of the big events
of the year, and all nearby towns
are invited to come to Newport
and join in the fun. There will be
plenty of tricks, side shows, eats,
etr., for every age to enjoy. One
of the main features of the evening
will be the crowning of the corn
queen.

tion held its monthly meeting Sat-
urday evening, Oct. 7, at Mrs. Ivy

Alaska anil California are at home

tie White. He has been in Alaska
more than two years. Mrs. White
has Iwen living in California during
this time. Cpl. White will be sta-
tioned at Camp Swift, Texas. His
wife will go with: him there when
his furlough- ends.
