HEETI1E CONTINUES
THKHJHE SEEK
The College street revival con-
ducted by Mr. Busby continues with
unabated interest. Last evening the
house was filled to overflowing to
hear the speaker cn the subject of
Sacrifice. He spoke in part as fol-
lows:
Sacrifice began in the first family
when Cain and Abel went forth to do
service to their God; but one offer-
ed his sacrifice as God directed the
other according to his own way of
1 thinking. Therefore God had re-
spect to Abel’s sacrifice and rejected
bis brother’s which so enraged Cain
that he rose ap and slew Abel and
became the father of murder and
bloodshed which has marked every
page of human history almost.
It makes no difference how great
the sacrifice it fails to r’eare God
unless it is offered at Hv direct;. A;
in the ease of King Saul of Israel
I when the Lord sent him to destroy
ja nation he reserved part to offer as
| a .sacrifice but Samuel said "Obed-
j fence Is better than sacrifice.” And
jwith 1 Cor. 13 “If we give all we
'have to feed the poor and our bodies
i to be burned unless we have love it
! profits nothing.” “For this is the
love of God that we keep his tom-
maadmentr.” 1 Jno. 5:3.
Abraham was called upon by Je-
hovah to leave his father's house and
home country' to go to the place the
Lord would direct which he willing-
ly obeyed but still the God of Hea-
ven called upon him to offer his on!v
son Isaac. Still Abraham never
doubted but willingly obeyed to
the very point of taking his son’s
life when the angel stayed hi?
hand and as a result Abraham b- -
came the father of the faithful.
For centuries we see the slaying
of animals and smoking altars roll-
ing sins away till the great sacrifice
was made for the sins of the world.
Since then God Is requiring "our
bodies as living .sacrifices which is
our reasonable service.” Rom. id:
1.
The meeting will continue ail the
week. Services 10 a. m arid 7:30
p. m. All are cordially invited.
