ten with Mr. Thrane asked one day,
"How do you manage to meet, again
and again, the problems you face
here at McMurry? Are you ever dis-
couraged?"
Placing his hand upon the young
man's shoulder, Mr. Thrane smiled
and replied, "We have learned to
meet the stormy days with our rain-
shoes on."
That statement seemed to be a
characteristic of his life, and in thedays that are ahead our city will
miss his leadership. We who are
students will remember him because
his handclasp was warm and his
smile hearty; because he never fail-
ed to understand, sympathize and
help with students' problems; be-
cause without his ready assistance,
many of us could not have woven
our lives into McMurry College.

By Don Ramsey
The sun came up over the hill
Spreading its warm rays all about
Until the snow and ice started to melt
Of winter seemed almost gone.
At last spring seemed near,
When the flowers would bloom and
The grass would grow, and queer
-Little plants would sprout from the
that covered the earth.and the chill
green carpetThe flowers began to bloom,
-The trees became huge patches of green and
-The outdoors seemed like a huge beautiful room
-That was filled with enchantment of heaven.
Then the birds came along,
They had come from the south
To chirp and sing and cheer people with their song.
Busy little birds; brightening the heart of everyone.
Yes, spring is wonderful,
People walking and laughing
And admiring the world that is full
Of the wonders of Mother Nature.4-THE GALLEON
