a decline of 2 to 16 points and sold off .
to 32.80 for .March and 33.10 for May
or about 37 to 41 points net lower dur-
ing the early trading. The cables made
a relatively steady showing notwith-
standing the continuance of the British
rail strike but the market here ap-
peared to be influenced by unfavorable
i reports from the cotton good - trade
and the continued talk of increasing
domestic nv'll curtailment. Off ring

were comparatively few buyers appar-

on the early break.

CHICAGO GRAIN MARKET
! CHICAGO Jan. 28.—Persistent sell-
ing by holders led to a fresh setback
of prices today in th“ corn market.
There was good commt -ion hou<** pur-
chasing of May at the tart but the
aggregate was insufficient to uphold
valines. Receipts at St. Louis. Kansas
City and Omaha totaled "Ts cars in-
dicating that there wa a liberal move-
ment of corn under way in sections
even though arrivals at Chicago were
relatively light. The opening which
ranged from to 1 •• cent lower. May
79 to 79*x cent waft followed by :*
moderate further drop.
Wheats and oats weakened with corn.
Talk about supposed recent damage to
printer wheat failed to timulate much
buying. After opening unchanged to
Vi cent higher. May Ltd*”- to 1.09 and
July 1.07*!. to 1.07'vs wheat prices un-
derwent a general ag.
Oats started at a shade lower. Mav
4774 cent* and later declined a little
more.
Breaks in hog value* had a decided
bearish effect «• •.
