Brownies Whitewash-
ed in Tilt Duplicat-
ing Game Played on
Last Wednesday
(Special to The Herald.)
HARLINGEN' Tex. July 5.—Perry
Harlingen’s most effective mound
performer turned in his twelfth con-
secutive victory 'or the Stars and
fcis thirteenth victory for the season
out of fourteen starts by blanking
Brownsville 1 to 0 at Harlingen Sun-
day afternoon in the only game
playe<f**in the Valley league San Be-
nito being rained out at Edinburg.
This game was much the same as
the one played by Brownsville at
Harlingen last week when the
Brownies lost by the same score in
the same inning on a hit by the same
man. The batteries were different
J. Clements being in the box ht>t
Wednesday for the Brownies with
Duncan pitching for the stars.
In the final inning Sunday Perry
went out and Bupp doubled. Lynch
tried to sacrifice but was thrown out.
Bupp went to third hase on a passed
ball and Adair's infield hit scored
Bupp for the winning run. Adair
tripled in Wednesday’s game to best
the Brownies by the same score.
Adair turned in a double play un-
assisted in the first inning with a
Brownie on first and second. He
grabbed Partain's line drive and
stepped on second base. Only four
Brownies got on base Perry allowing
only four blows >inri dealing no bases
on balls or hitting no one with a
pitched hall. Pratt and Uoneymaa
were the only one to reach second.
Monzingo and Allen were the two
others to get hits. Pratt and Par-
" tain made pretty catches in the field
{or the Brownies while Babe caught
a\good game for the Stars.
Lynch Rube and Brewer got a
couple of blows each for the Stars
while Bupp got a double. Failure to
hit in the pinches with men on bases
caused the Stars to waste many
blows.
