Jack Chandler will play Pete
Alcozar in a semi-final round of
the Intramural Pool Tburna-
ment while Jimmy Bloodworth
has a semi-final bye as of last
Friday.
In the Intramural Foosball
Tournament, Donnie Carpenter
beat George Collier and in the
Intramural Ping Pong Tourna-
ment, Fernando Chan defeated
Edward Gonzales for that
championship.
To advance to the semi-final
round of the pool tournament,
Alcozar beat Donnie Carpenter
in the quarter-final round. He
also had to beat Lewis Boren,
Bobby Colacino and Mark Hill.
Gonzales-Krenek lost to
Chuffi-Neason, of San Jacinto,
in the finals with a 6-2, 6-1 win
for San Jacinto.
Gonzales also made it to the
semi-finals in the men’s singles
by defeating fourth-seeded
player Minzemayer of San
Jacinto 6-4, 6-2. Coach Garmon
said, “It was one of our biggest
wins.”
The women’s doubles was
won by Wharton County with
TJC’s Simcik-West taking a
second. Coach Garmon said
“We have a very strong doubles
team and really should have
won in the tie breaker.” Whar-
ton County took the win with a
score of 6-3, 1-6, 7-6.
Coach Garmon said “I was
generally pleased with the out-
come of the tournament.”"

down the Big Dads 6-2. In addi-
tion to the good defense, said golf Coach Jim Brown.
Brown said the women are in
first place in their conference
but that there was “not really

Softball action of April 13
saw the Cardinals, Bad Bobs
and Jackers all claim wins.
The Cardinals completely
routed Pure Pleasure 22-2 to go
2-1 in the win-loss column while
Pure Pleasure dropped to 0-4.
Second game action had two
undefeated teams going at it as
the Rangers and Bad Bob met coupled with the fine play of
with the Bobs stealing a 8-10
victory.
The Jackers pushed their
record to 3-0 in their game
against the Big Dads as they
nipped the Dads 15-13.
In the evening’s first contest,
the Jackers and Untuners had a
slugfest with the Jackers com-
ing out on top by a 16-15 score.
TJC Nets Second
The TJC tennis team placed
second in the TJC invitational
tennis tournament played April
12-13.
Other schools that placed
were San Jacinto taking a first
in their men’s division, Laredo
Junior College took a third, and
Wharton County Junior College
placed with a fourth.
Edward Gonzales and
Frankie Krenek made up the
men’s doubles team for TJC.
Gonzales also played in the
singles. Vicky Simick and Janis
West played in the women’s
doubles.
The men’s singles and dou-
bles were won by San Jacinto.
TJC took a second in the men’s
doubles. Coach Frances Garmon
said, “it was a good win for
Gonzales-Krenek.”

TJC’s women’s golf team
placed third behind Lamar and
Texas A&M Universities in the
2nd Annual TJC Women’s Invi-
tational Golf Tournament held
Bad Bob Stays Undefeated TJC’s Patty Johnson tied, for
first with Marlene Madill of
Jimmy Oscamas belted a pair of Lamar University. Both women
got medals but Madill won the
tourney’s trophy when she beat
Johnson in an eight-hole sud-
den death playoff. Madill won
on'the par-three eighth hole as
she parred and Johnson
bogeyed.
Johnson fired a 74-77-151 as
Madill shot a 75-76-151 for the
two-day tournament.
“It was the longest playoff
we’ve ever had, men or women,”

Salisbery has also been
selected to play in the Texas
Junior College All-Star Game
April 29.
During Salisbery’s time play-
ing for the Leopards he was
named to the all-conference
team, all-tournament team, all-
tournament team at Odessa,
and all-tournament team at
Jacksonville.
In the two years that Salis-
bery played for the Leopards he
started all 63 games.
Salisbery has a total of 620
points which is an average of
19.6 per game, and a total of
310 rebounds, which is an
average of 9.7 per game.
Coach Danny Scott said he
was “thrilled that Salisbery was
given the chance to go on and
play.” Scott added, “He is well
deserving and could play for
anyone.”
Salisbery will be playing
with two former Leopards, John
McDowell, and Julius Howard,
who signed with Pan Am last
year.

Golfers Bring HomeThird Salisbery Picks
Pan American
Danny Salisbery, Leopard
basketbailer, signed a letter of
intent with Pan American last
June 3. The team will not have Thursday,
to qualify since it is hosting the
54-hole event.
They hosted last year’s tour-
nament and won it as Johnson,
Loehr and Yount swept the top
three places. They will be de-
fending their titles this year.
TJC’s women were last
year’s national champions.
