WICHITA FALLS Nov. 6. nfi
The Memorial stadium here receiv-
ed an unusually thorough airing to-
day as the result of a stink bomh at-
tack on an anti-Smith political meet-
ing last night.
The attack occurred while the Rev
J. Frank Norris noted Baptist min-
ister was speaking. Dr. Norris com-
pleted his address and Dr. H. D.
Knickerbocker of Little Rock Ark.
succeeded in getting through hi* ad-
dress but the 1 unit's were too strung
by the time the last speaker the Rev.
Paul Henry Packard formerly pastor
of the local < hristian church arose
to speak. His address was trans-
ferred to Radio Station KtiKO which
broadcast his speech.
Local democratic leaders issued
statements deploring the attack.
BLAME NOT FIXED
IN HEFLIN ATTACK
BIRMINGHAM Ala.. Nov. 6. •.#)—
Responsibility tor the egg shower
which descended upon United States
Senator J. Thomas Heflin as he was
nearing the end of an address in the
auditorium of the Anniston high
school last night in opposition to the
Smith-Robinson presidential ticket
had not been determined by Anniston
police.
Officers assigned to the case Re-
ported to their superiors they had no
tangible evidence as to the identity
of the egg hurlers.
Senator Heflin was a.-sailed by egg
throwers from the audience and al-
though none of the egg# struck him.
some of them splattered so near that
his clothing was soiled.
Police were summoned to the audi-
torium and began an investigation
after quieting the disorder within
the hall. Senator Heflin continued
his address.

gard missionary B^itist preacher
who was speaking against the candi-
dacies of Governor Smith and Sena-
tor Robinson last night in the home
town of the democratic vicc-prcisden-
tial nominee converted an opposing
political meeting into a democratic
rally.
Hardly had Bogard begun hi* ad-
dress when the eggs appeared from
various points in the audience throw-
ing the audience into an uproar. Bo-
gard was not hit. Many in the audi-

later took the platform in behalf of
their native son.
WORCESTER Mas#. Nov. OF
An election eve disturbance in
which a policeman was beaten sense-
less women manhandled and 10.000
marchers in a republican demonstra-
tion showered with egg# oil bricks
and refuse furnished a spectacular
conclusion to the political campaign
in this city.
Although warned of impending
trouble by reports during the day of
an extraordinary demand for eggs
police proved helpless in the face of
jeering thousands who assailed the
marchers.
Harry Hyde a patrolman was
knocked unconscious and lost several
teeth when he attempted to inter-
vene in a brawling group while Mrs.
Lloyd Byrd was taken to the hospital
with a horn shoved down her throat.
At points along the line of march
including Washington Square where
both llerhert Hoover and Governor
Smith were recently accorded ova-
tions. the marchers were targets for
h steady hail of missiles.
Although police reinforcements
were rushed to quell the trouble no
arrest# were possible. Prisoner# were
lorn from the officer# by their
friend# and the police subjected to a
severe drubbing.
STRANGER IN DIS BED
THU AGO. — W alden John-on
