been visiting in San Antonio for
several weeks has just returned
home.
Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Skinner were
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. M.
Smith over the week-end. when Dr.
Skinner name down to address the
Presbytrian auxiliav here. Dr. Skin-
ner was for several years pastor of
the Brownsville churrh before going
to Kingsville to take charge of the
Tex-Mex school.

SAN BENITO
PIONEER BRIDGE
In adornment of Mrs. Paul Cow-
gilla home Friday Christmas colors
and flowers predominated when she
entertained members of the Pioneer
Bridge club. A pretty background
was formed by gorgeous bouquets
of poinsettias and clusters of red
roses while tall red candles gave
emphasis to the Christmas theme.
Mrs. S. S. Dodds held the high
score at the end of playing and re-
ceived the trophy for success. Mrs.
J. H. Konntz received the award for
low score. In the attractive lunch-
eon course the red color motif eras
repeate. This was enjoyed at the
close of playing. Guests in addition

NEIGHBORHOOD CLUB
A regular meeting of the Neigh-
borhood cluh was held Weddesdav
afternoon. Dec. 12 at the home of
Mrs. J. 7.. McSpadden. Great inter-
est was given in respond to roll call
by members giving current events
and short sketches. Minutes of the
two preceding meetings were read
and approved. It was decided to
send flowers and a gift to the elder-
ly mother of one of the club mem-
ber! and a committee to execute the
commission of the club during the
business session was delegated. A
social hour was enjoyed following
the refreshments of cake fruit-jello
and cocoa. Mrs. Frank Mayfield will
he hostess at the next meeting to be
held at her home on Jan. 2 1929.

At a luncheon at the Stonewall
Jackson hotel members of the two-
table bridge club were interestingly
entertained by Mrs. Davis Wade. The
members assembled at the home of
the hostess on North Crockett later

FORMER U. S. GIRL DIES

Clara de Wildeniierg Hatsfeldt died
today. She was the former Clara M.
t'ampbcll. adopted daughter of Coi-
l's P. Huntington of New York.
The princess was the widow of a
Russian nobla and had been living
in England ainca ths war. She had
been a society laadar for many years
and was considered ona of the best
dressed woman in Europe. Sha was
noted for her lavish entrtainment at
her country estate near Windsor.
The princess contracted bronchitis
a week ago and was threatened with
pneumonia.

To Put on Play
"The World’s Redeemer'* a pan-
tomine pageant of the birth of
Christ will be given Wednesday
night at the Brownsville Junior eol-
lege auditorium.
The pageant which is to he acted
by junior college students assisted
by those of the high school will be
■nterspersed with the singing of re-
ligious songs by a small chorus ac-
cording to Information from those
in charge of the presentation.
The pageant will be given free of
charge and the authorities of the
school have extended the public a
rordial invitation to attend.
