giving their names as G. T.
James 28 and Paul Jirooks
19 of Childress Tex. were
arrested by Wichita Fall?
officers early today aboard
a pacK. ~:r tr:i" as it near-
ed this city in connection
with a bank robbery at Wil-
low Okla. yesterday. The
men officers &aid had $3-
158.89 with them.
Three city officer* drove 12 miles
to Iowa Park in 11 minutes to catch
the train after a Fort Worth and
Denver railroad dispatcher had tele-
graphed them to meet the train at
that place. The dispatcher was tip-
ped off by an official on the train
who became suspicious after seeing
the men board the Pullman car.
Three Oklahoma officers arrived
today and started to M ngum
Okla.. with them. The officers were
Sheriff S. H. Tittle of Greer. Okla
John K. Ford chief of police at Al-
tus. Okla. and A. B. Williams chief
of police at Granite. Okla.
The men arrested did not sign
any statements here and did not
admit any connection with the
holdup.
Greer county officers trailed the
men to a point north of Childress
where they lost track of the fugi-
tives late yesterday.

Divorce From Mulatto Wife

LAS VEGAS Nev -' ug 15.—0<IV-A divorce suit on behalf of Leon-
ard Kip Rhinelander scion of a socially prominent New York family
charging that his mulatto wife. Alice Jones Rhinelander had “taken
advantage of his youth and inexperience” in persuading him to marry
her. was on fili here today.
It was Rhinelander's second suit to obtain a divorce from the
daughter of a New Rochelle. N. Y.. negro coachman. Several years ago
a similar case in New York failed to bring him a decree. Since then
they have been living anart Mrs. Rhinelander receiving a separate
maintenance.
In his new complaint Rhinelander charged the defendant by her
artifices and wiles so dominated him he was led into the marriage
ceremony. He claimed she caused him to be estranged from his family
and friends causing him "great humiliation.'*

Commission to Name
Citizen Candidate
Final selection by the American
legion of the man who is to bear
the title of Brownsville's most dis-
tinguished citizen is being held up so
as to include in the list to be voted
upon a nomination from the city
commission.
The dlty commission is to nomi-
nate its candidate at the regular
meeting on Friday morning and
the list of nominees will be immedi-
ately sent out to the members of
the legion for the deciding vote.
Two nominations have already been
announced. Judge O. C. Dancy and
W. O. Washington county engineer.
Kiwanians Hear Talk
By San Benito Judge
Judge James Q. Loutham of San
Benito discussed various features of
accomplishments of service clubs at
Thursday’s luncheon meeting of the
Kiwanis club at El Jardin hotel. He
emphasized the opportunity which
service chibs have for acting toward
the benefit of young manhood par-
ticularly in promoting measures for
nreventing strif® and war involv-
ing the loss of life and property.
Mrs. Fritz Schmidt sang several
sones. accompanied by Pennell Kel-
aud Sam Perl was in charge of en-
tertainment.

Assailant Faces Two Char*
ges of Assault to Mur-
del* After Affray
HOUSTON. Aug. 15.—(jP)—Ren-
frew Robertson. 23 secretary treas-
urer of the Yellow Cab company
was in a critical condition in a hos-
pital today with a deep knife wound
in his abdomen and Sewell Lips-
comb 21 faced the charges of as-
sault to murder as a result of an
affray here last night.
Eugene P. Maher of Yakima
Wash. was cut on the arm and
leg these Injuries resulting in the
second charge of assault to murder.
Lipscomb had a broken jaw lacer-
ated nose and a badly bruised arm
Maher said he and Robertson
were attracted to the scene of the
affray by a woman's screams. He
said he found a woman clad in neg-
ligee holding a child. Another
woman pointed to a man and asked
Maher to arrest ’ m the Washing-
ton man said.
After the man had hit Maher he
sw'ung back and knocked the other
man unconscious he told police
Just as he and Robertson were leav-
ing the house hi said he turned to
see the man charging at them. La-
ter he found Robertson in ^pool of
blood.
