supper Wednesday when shortly be-
fore noon one of those in charge of
the preparations called in an emer-
gency request for a Roquefort
cheese dressing.
“We can’t come to the class to- 1
day.” the inquirer said at the close
of the conversation “but we expect
to be there in a body tomorrow.”
Clubs Postponed
Club meetings and parties are be-
ing ptt poned until next week to I
allow members to attend all ses-
sions of the school.
The subject for Wednesday wa;
hot breads and Included a variety
of quick breads in novelty forms
which are sure to prove welcome to!
all women and especially those who
entertain for Mrs. Dougan demon-
strated a number of simply made
styles which would add Interest to
any meal. She gave basic recipes
for the breads and then showed
how to develop these in such a va-
riety cf ways as to make them al-
most unrecognizable as the prosaic
roll or biscuit usually served.
Mrs. Dougan included in her
demonstration a recipe for Georgia
peach pie recently handed her. and
not in the list of recipes in her day’s
pregram made as follcv .:
Georgia Peach Pie
One and cr.e-half cup flour. 1-4
tablespoon salt. 1 teaspoon sugar 1
teaspoon baking powder. 3 table-
spoons fat. 1 egg 1-4 cup milk.
Sift all dry ingredients together
cut in fat add egg and milk. Mix
carefully and spread in pie plate
with spatula. Fill crust with
peaches cut in half. Pour over
peaches a custard made of one egg.
one-half cup milk one-half cup su-
gar. Bake 30 minutes at 375 de-
grees.
The subject for Friday the clos-
ing day. is to be meat and fish. At
this time the drawing for the grand
attendance prizes of the school the
Valley Wonder gas range used by-

played by the Borderland Furniture
company will be held. Ail those
having cards are urged to be pres-
ent as it is necessary for them to
claim the prizes in person to re-
ceive the award.

John and his bride met them in
the very room where on the morn-
ing of August 3. lf>29. his father
took the oath of office in succes-
sion to Warren G. Harding.

after a motor trip from Windsor.

Cleared; Halt Work
PALESTINE. Sept. 26.—The
J. C. Beard No. 2 Humble veil in
the Neches field 15 miles east of
Palestine came in Wednesday
morning spreading gas over a large
territory. The roar of the well
could be heard several miles.
People In the near vicinity have
been ordered out and work around
the well has been suspended until
it tames down. Material- were
trucked up to within a quarter of a
mile of the v.ell and will be rushed
in as soon as it is safe to approach
it. <

Is Dead In Missouri

SAN BENITO Sept. 26.—Henry
Clay Lomax lather of John T. Lo-
max of this city is dead at the
family home in Laclede. Mo. ac-
cording to a communication re-
ceived here by friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Lomax of this city
were at the bedside of Mr. Lomax’
father at the time of his death.

will begin the regular home room
