THE GYRO IS DESTROYED, BUT ITS FINAL
PURPOSE ACCOMPLISHED. THE WORLD
IS BACK ON ITS FORMER AXIS.
not an argument, but a lovely anthem
of devotion whose rhapsodical power
carries tile believer along in a move
meut of mind, heart, and living which
never lag* or grows stale. Musle
buoys the church up in her supreme
task and makes the task easier and
more fascinating. Fittingly we honor
her power and surrender to her spell.
Music helps us to have a soul worth
saving.
The morning serbice begins at 10:45
a. i.
We will worship with the people of
the Presbyterian church on Sunday
evening.
Field, stream, city and social con-
tacts call us these lovely days. But
the call of God should be more power-
ful than when their call is strictly
for diversion. It is more powerful if
you will give it a chance to be heard.
Utter a prayer now that you will have
the grace to yield to His call tomor-
row at 0:45 and 10:4S. , Let us not
starve our spiritual well being.

FTRST BAPTIST CHURCH*
W. A. Bowen, Pastor
“I was glad when they said unto
me, let us go unto the house of the
Lord", wrote one in the days of old.
Throughout the centuries the church
has been the greatest promoter of all
that. is best and most worth while in
human life. If we believe in the
church and its work in the world we
will want to give it our support. The
different phase of its work are all
worthy of our very best co-operation
and encouragement. It is a fine
thing to be in our plice in the Lord's
house at the appointed time of wor-
ship, and a still finer thing to use
our influence to get others to come
with us.
At 9:45 we meet for Sunday School
We need you and you need that ser-
vice. The pastor will speak at 10:50 on,
"LAfe's Memorials." B. Y. I’. U. will
meet at 6:30, See that the boys and
girls are urged to attend this train-
ing service.
We will meet with the membershp
of the First Presbyterian Church for
the evening preaching service.
life to made many things.
How are we to' find our way? Trust
to blind chance and hope that these
things will some bow turn out best
for us. Fluctuate from one purpose
to another without a binding unity?
Isten to the animal urges of our
bodies, thereby being driven through
Ufe as animals? How shall we find
our way through all demands and pos-
sibilities which life has to offer?
“I am the way ... one cometh
unto the Father except by me . . . I
am the door - any man may 1
go in and find pasture . . : let not
your hearts be trouble . . . take my
yoke upon you, learn of me ... he
that beareth these sayings of mine
and doeth them shall be likened unto
a man that built his house upon a
rock."
The church bases its life upon the
work of having people to come to
know and to embody the grace
and power of Christ. It has no other
reason for existehce. That ’is the
first and the supreme task. His grace
teaches us how to select the beat
roads, choices, purposes, motives for
ourselves and for those with whom
we travel in the way.
In interpreting the power and grace
of Christ there are many things which
come to our assistance. Among them
music stands out. Music will not save
a man’s soul . . . but. It will help
him to have a soul that is worth
saving. The other day I was reading
reflections of a man who had been
in the ministry for fifty years. He
said that if he could go back over his
life again one service a month would
be dedicated to a skillful use of music
as the center of worship. That an-
other service would be dedieated to
congregational singing. Music is the
hand maiden of religion. When the
faith is sung into our hearts and
when it is embeddd into our souls
under the influence of great music
era of iniquity” (Proverbs 10129).
Among the citations which eomprise
the Lesson Sermon to the following
from the Bible: “For the grace of
God that bringeth salvation bath ap-
peared to all men, teaching us that,
denying ungodliness and wordly
lusts, we should ’live soberly, right-
eously, and godly, in this present
world” (Titus 2: 11, 12.)
Tbe Lesson-Sermon also includes
the following passage from the chris-
tian Science textbook, “Science and
Health with Key to the Scriptures"
by Mary Baker Eddy: "Reuson is
the most active human faculty. Let
that inform the sentinients and awak
was shed for me.
