C. - The total self-interest of the United States should govern her actions in all foreign affairs." "Should decisions on the actual execution of policy be left to the Congress, there would likely be as many different approaches to every question as there are Members, each believing that whatever he espouses is in our own 'self-interest'. Essentially this is the core of the present debate in the United States Senate."

His files hold letters signed by most of the major political leaders of Texas during the 1940s through the 1960s, as well as letters signed by Presidents Harry S Truman, Richard M. Nixon, Senator Lyndon B. Johnson, and George Washington Carver. It also contains a scrapbook of his time at Simmons College.
