A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Public Accountant, Abilene, Texas, from Omar Burleson, House of Representatives, Washington, D. C., dated April 16, 1948. Burleson expresses his appreciation for Carswell's views relative to HR 5732 and for his comment relative to the international situation. Burleson states that our every effort must be made towards a sounder, well-prepared Nation. "The present outlook is not good, and we cannot afford to risk a repetition of the disaster we knew in this last war."

T. N. Carswell Collection
This collection was assembled by Thomas Norwood Carswell (1887-1978) and contains correspondence throughout his life. His files hold letters signed by most of the major political leaders of Texas during the 1940s through the 1960s, as well as letters signed by Presidents Harry S Truman, Richard M. Nixon, Senator Lyndon B. Johnson, and George Washington Carver. It also contains a scrapbook of his time at Simmons College.
