AFTER WINKS
A charming guest, two de-
lightful hostesses, three read-
ers, many songsters, a fortune
teller, a never ceasing victrola,
a jolly mob, rearing to dance
fin a limited space), contests to
worry the mind, prizes to re-
ward the efforts, and plenty of
good refreshments wholesome-
ly enjoyed—now what do you
think all of this could lead to
but a party? And in honor of
one of Tarleton's most favored
eres,—Miss Tava Barbee. And
v/ho could arrange th6 whole
affair more delightfully than
Bess and her "rummate," Lou-
ise? -
That is what happened and
J know that no one crowd has
had a better time than had the
twelve girls who attended the
party after winks Saturday
night. And really, we found
some talent in the crowd! One
will come upon such things all
unexpected-like. "Bobby Hop"
was the chief performer, I
would say; because after mak-
ing every one laugh until her
face felt as if it would never
sit on straight again, she sat
down to tell fortunes. With
the assisttance of Kings,
Queens, jaeks, spades, hearts,
diamonds, clubs, jokers, aces,
(sh! sh! - Whoever says there
Was a set of cards told a story.)
By calling these forth as wit-
nesses to the past, present, and
future of each one's life, she
told < of such and such "a tall,
dark-complexioned young man,
who by a letter, etc.," had
brought grief into a young
girl's life—anyway, many stood
upon the brink of belief and
many fell on in (but to tell the
truth, what the creatures pro-
phesied could happen to any-
one—for even I received a let-
ter bhce"fr#rV''aark^oi&j!lfe^
ioned man, which brought great
grief, for it came like this in,
red; $6.80.) Anyway, ybu may
try your luck with the cards.
Later a contest of five min-
utes of frantic effort resulted
in the making happy Ouida's
heart. Why not? A writing
quill would make anyone hap-
py. Then to the guest of hon-
or went a week-end toilet set
fit for any queen.
Last but not least, came the
refreshments—apples, oranges,
grapes, the most delicious as-
sorted candy, and, of. course,
chewing gum — consequently,
we had no embarrassing quiet
spells.
Att 12:30 the lights went out
and all was quiet again. We
wer% abed, but not asleep; for
thoughts of the party lingered
and called us back into con-
sciousness.
Bobby Hop, Henry Etta, Lou-
ise Ginz, Bobbie Bobbins, Oui-
da, Pearl Zeta, Tressie, and
Searcy, all join in giving- fifteen
rahs for Bess and Louise, with
plenty of extras for Tava.
Their hope is. that there may be
more such events to follow.
NEW ANNEX, THE HALL OF
VIM, VIGOR, AND STU-
DIOUS WOMEN
Huiie thinks no one but her
knows that the football boys
were in Hico this week end;
but everyone in the Annex is
thoroughly, convinced of the
fact now.
Erline said that candy was
a perfectly wonderful peace-
treaty, but it did not work after
the third time; so consequently
all kinds qf apologizing took
place.
Vo-do-de-doole-do, this norths
wind will just about blow in the
crowd. Bonnie is. afraid that
the chili won't last till the
crowd gets here.
Whoo-pee! The lights have
winked and pot only that, but
we are all thrilled silly over
open-house; so naturally dust
is\ already beginning to fly in
aU directions.
FORT FROLICS
The running water has. been
shut off in our rooms. The
other day a man came down
amongst our jolly band with a
bucket of black stuff and
smeared it on our rpof, thus
permanently stopping the holes,
We hear that our sisters in
blue are to have open house at
their establishment one night
this week. That should be in-
teresting. Maybe some day we
will have open house at our
place.
"Ladies in the Fort" rang the
cry Sunday. Barney's, mother
and father paid us a visit. Evi-
dently they liked us—^particu-
larly room 6, because we heard
many expressions like this:
"Where did you get air those
girls' handkerchiefs?"
"Orange and black furniture
eh ? Some class!"
"Pretty keen dump," and
others.
Fish Blackmon says that he
wouldn't mind being room or-
derly if that were all there were
to it.
Our man of silence and im-
mobility is Figh Tucker. He
should be named "Silent" or
"The jSphinx."
Fish AUen is the noisiest man
aroynci. Np peace for any 9R,e
so long as he "promg" up and
down the hall.
Our "woimyile^ dance" #88
a complete success. It start-
ed a| 1Q :30 in the gym, and
siiut down promptly at twelve
"A good tirpe was had by all,"
and maybe we can get it dqne
again.
Thanks to the co-eds for the
lend of their dresses for that
affair. It wouldn't have been
nearly so thrilling without the
presence of girls.

THE WHITE HOUSE
The Aggettes met again last
Thursday evening afc- seveti o'clock
with Miss Fellman in the gymnas-
ium. After a business session,
there was a social hour which every
girl enjoyed. There have heen two
meetings of the club this term. A
much larger number was present
at the last meeting than at the
first. This fact is encouraging, but
there are still other girls who have
not yet become Aggettes, and there
are those who have not attended
the meetings.
A? yet we have done nothing of
importance except to r^prgani??
and to select new officers, hut vye
expect to do things before many
meetings. The old students already
know about the Aggettesf WqrJi,
and those new girls should, take
advantage of the opportunity. tq
learn. Perhaps you think you do
not have time, but it takes only a
small amount. We always get
home in time to study' Before ten-
thirty. ' * :
Then it seems to me that since
this is an organization of Tarleton
students, by Tarleton students, and
for Tarleten students, it is every
girl's duty to belong. Every "girl in
school aan be an Aggette. Perhaps
you may be experiencing a "left
out" feeling because you failed to
make a club which yoi| wanted to
make. Let that make no difference
to you, but come out Thursday
night week and let's all have a
good time together, for we can all
do what we can if we cannot always
do what we \yant to.
If you have not joined and want
to> S.ee M>ss Le]lman, Tressie Me-
harg, or Bobby Bobbins, any one of
Whom will tell yoii what to do.
