FFA CONTEST WILL
BE HELO THIS WEEK
The first annual leadership con-
tost of Area IV FFA memhors
will be held at Tarleton next Fri-
day tilid Saturday, May 7 and 8,
according to A. J. Spangler, direc-
tor of the school of agriculture
and adviser for Area IV.
There are ten districts in Area
IV and only the winners of the
district contests will be permitted
to enter the contest here. The ten
districts in the area are B reck en-
ridge, Tri-County, Heart of Tex-
as, Waco, Comanche, Brazos Val-
ley, Brmvnwood, Coleman, Abilene,
and Rofoy.
The winning teams and indi-
viduals will be given awards ac-
! cording to the contest and rank.
For the chapter conducting con-
test the high team will be given
the official FFA trophy, a copy
of "Reeves Parliamentary Prac-
tice" donated by the College Store,
and a gavel donated by the eollegc.
The second, third and fourth teams
| will receive a copy of "Reeves
Parliamentary Practice,'' donated
by the College Store, and a gavel
donated by the college. Each mem-
ber of the four high teams will re-
ci-ivi' an official FFA manual.
The winners of this contest will
compete in the State contests at
Iluntsvillc this summer. Accord-
ing to Mr, Spangler this will be
one of the most interesting con-
tests in FFA work to be held at
Tarleton.
ASSOCIATE EDITOR RETURNS
AFTER ATTENDING FUNERAL
Barney Blankenship, associate
editor of the J-Tac. returned to
school Monday "f last week after
attending tile funeral of his grand-
father. R. S, McCravey, of Thorn-
ton, Toxas.
Mr. McCravey, 7!) years old, died
from pneumonia, which he con-
tracted after beiritr injured in a
fall at his home. He is survived
by his wife, three children, eight
grandchildren, and three great-
grandchildren.
