In keeping with the Happy
Days dress contest, the West
Wind staff conducted a poll
asking PHS students whether
or not they like d the styles
of the 5 O’s or the present, and
why. Here are the results:
David Gibbs - I like these
days better myself because
those days, the pants and hair
was too short.
Reagan Holley - I like the
style of these days better be-
cause the hair was too short
back then.
Sadie Piper - I would kinda
like to dress like back in the
50’s because I like the bobbie
socks.
Becky Hamilton - I like the
way I dress now; back then the
pants were too short.
Brad Harrison - I like to
dress like I do now because
we have more styles from
which to choose.
Ricky Goodwin - I like how
I dress now because it looks
a lot neater.
Brenda Jones - I like the
50*s style better; your dresses
were longer and did not have
to waste money on makeup.
Janis Branscum - I like the
50’s better because they rolled
their jeans up to the knees.
Delisa Brooks - I like the
style now because I would not
lock good in a pony tail.
Tracy Davis - I like now be-
cause the style is more at-
tractive.
Ireiess Brooks - I like now
because I do not think I would

The second skit, “Missed Her
Chance,” featuring Susie
Canon, Melicia Sandlin, Bobbie
Powell and Candy Russell,
shows the consequences of not
buying an annual when the op-
portunity is offered.
Michale Holley joined the
list of sick or injured last week
after dislocating his knee dur-
ing the Childress game. Tommy
Davis was also injured during
week.
Ray, 5’10” hazel eyed, dark
brown -haired charmer, has
played football all four years in
PHS but this is not his only
accomplishment by far. He also
played basketball his freshman
year and plans to participate a-
gain this year. The first two
years Ray was also one of the
PHS tracksters.

Last Thursday students and
faculty alike were transported
back in time to the Happy
Days of the 1950’s.
Ducktails, petticoats, pony-
tails and strains of “Rock A-
round the Clock” brought nosta-
lgia to the teachers and laughs
from students at an assembly
held at 10:30 that morning.
The m ost authentically
dressed girl chosen in the dress
contesting was Delisa Brooks
and boy, Michael Goundie.
Teachers chosen were Mr.
Jimmy Sandlin and Mrs. John
Utley.
These people received their
annuals for the price of $4,.
plus tax. Original rock and roll
from the ’50’s entertained the
audience as the judges made
their decisions and in all it
was agreed that Happy Day was
a big success.
This dress contest was for
the purpose of promoting
Zypher sales. Annuals till be
sold for an additional two weeks.

HOMECOMING I
Miss Harris,
New Teacher
This week the West Wind
chose Miss Harris as the new
teacher to interview for the
paper.
Miss Harris lived in Rich-
ardson, Texas, all of her life
and went to school at North
Texas State University in
Denton where she attended for
5 years, working on her bache-
lors degree and' went one
summer working on her
masters degree. During this
time she worked as dorm coun-
selor in her dorm and as the
night clerk at the same dorm.
She enjoys doing things
like reading, crocheting, paint-
ing and artwork like decoupag-
ing and refinishing furniture.
Miss Harris said that teach-
ing school is a lot harder than
she thought it would be but en-
joys it even more than she
thought she would. She also
said that even though she likes
teaching at PHS, it feels like
she has been teaching forever
rather than seven and one half
weeks.
