Mardi Gras, in New Orleans will
have at least two Tarleton stu-
dents enjoying its carnival festivi-
ties, Virginia Smith of Stephenville

Orleans. Nancy White of Dublin
went along as Virginia's guest.
- Mrs. Mitchell, assistant dormi-
tory director, found the following
statement in the Hardin-Simmons
student newspaper:
"Dear Sir:
"Please excuse longhand writing,
but I have just let my stenographer
go. In my last letter to ymi, we
were quoting you on Little Winder
•Gears, not Litel Wunder Gael's.
' Also, the pj'ice was $13.50 each,
not $1,350 tsaeh. Also, our terms
are 30 days net, not 300 net clays.
"Furthermore, we meant that we
' could rush them to you, not brush
them to you. And we are hoping
for your order, not mopiftj* as a
carbon of our recent letter to you
says.
"Wf trust that you will return
to us the check for $135 which was
sent to you with our quotation, by
mistake.
With very red-faced regards,
"Harry (not Hairy) Jackson."
Formal Dances,
Spring formals are" beginning to
fill up the calendar. The first dance
will,be the Valentine Dance Sat-
urday night and the DST's and
Los Gobbs are. sponsoring the
' dance. Candidates from each of the
girls' social clubs are running for
the honor of being Valentine
Queen, so boys, don't walk past
ttj'jse- the,. Re.c .Hall
and. College . Store withput voting
for your favorite.
These formala will really have
to be a lot of fun to beat these
Monday night dances. The dances
are really showing a good crowd.
■It could bt that the new students
sCre going to the dances to "peer"
at the old students, and vice versa.
Aggie Association,
Before long, a new club will
have to be organized on the cam-
pus—an A&M Club, Tarleton is
now boasting 17 new students from
A&M. Welcome, Aggies, make
yourselves at home! /
Melvin Allen ' of San Beriito
found his long lost plane. The
plane was returned to Allen by a
rancher who lives out on the Dub-
lin highway, so no one1 can say
that Allen's free flight isn't just
that.
The kitchen in the girl's dorm
has just been remodeled and, it
looks completely different and so
attractive. It was repainted white
and cafe curtains of green with'
small designs were added to give
it the final touch. .
Delores Nash of Abilene is a
cute blue-eved transfer from Har-
din-Simmons. Delores has been
dating Earl (Red) Noel of Na-
eo'ma.
Need Poetry?
In ease any of you need poems
or. songs written, Verna Gibbs of
Mason is the chief poet and song
writer of the girls' dorm. Verna is
forever making up little verses
about her friends, and her friends
are forever stacking her room to
get even.
Verna and. her roommate,. Jorita
Johnson of Stinnett, recently left
the culprits a note that read some-
thing like this:'"Have you hidden
everything where I can't find it?
Have you taken everything out of
the chest .and scattered it suffi-
ciently across the floor? Have you
messed up the room until it will
be.a struggle for you'to make your
way to the door? If you haven't—
you're; a lousy room stacker and
I'll come down later and give you,
a lesson on the finer points of
'room stacking'."
