St. Augustine, Fla., March 30.—
President Harding, it has become
known, did not consider necessary the
recent statement by Attorney Gen-
eral Daugherty predicting the chief
executive would be a candidate for re-
nomination or Chat the statement was
opportune or in good form.
It is presumed the president will
discuss the subject with the attorney
general who arrived here early today
from Miami, where he has been re-
cuperating from a recent illness. T\
president and Daugherty have not met
since the latter issued his statement
and there naturally is the keenest
cariosity whether there will be fur-
ther developments before the presi-
dent returns to Washington.
Conference Delayed
The attorney General arrived on
an early morning train and went lat-
er to the room reserved for him in
with gold and silver thread for
evening dresses.

Quaker Oats now come in two
styles regular and Quiet. Both
have that super-flavor—the flavor
that won the world. Both are
flaked from queen grain, only-
just the rich, plump, flavory oat*.
But In Quiet Quaker the oats

rolled very thin and partly
cooked. So the flakes are • mi Iler

those small thin flake* cook

of the roads in bad condition, on account
of so much rain, and partly du* to the
fact that some of the patrolmen have
not put forth a* much effort aa they
should have don* toward the upkeep
of their section*. The commissioner,
report .however, that they find excel-
lent work is being done by Early Aik-
en and Cargile * Cole and several
others, these patrolmen having done
eroes-laying, rocking and grading
work that to proving very beneficial
to the roads.
The ground covered by the commis-
stoners included Karnack, Uncertain
Landing, Lee, Jonesville and the ter-
ritory between these place*, being, in
fact, an almost complete inspection
of the northeastern partion of th*
county.
At joints along the way the ndfa
talked with patrolmen and stressed
with them the idea of the necessity of
taking advantage of free labor for
road work. They also talked with
individuals domiciled along the dif-
ferent section* of road and found
them anxious to see that free labor
to utilized and anxious to take part
in the working of the roads.
Karnack is making an effort to get
the convict gang to build a good,
permanent highway from Karnack to
MarahaJL It to not the opinion ot
some of the commissioners that the
convicts can be put to work on that
portion of highway immediately, but
they favor it at a little later date.
The commissioners state that they
will frequently make trips of inspec-
tion in all parte of the county and will
get in close touch with the work be-
ing done by the different patrolmen.
It to their opinion that it stimulates
interest and competition among the
patrolmen to know that their work
is being noticed and appreciated. In
this way a close relation will be es-
tablished between the commissioners,
the patrolmen and the people and each
will be more interested and ready to
help in the common purpose of all—
