TWENTY AND TEN by Claire H. Bishop is a true story set in
France during World War II. Twenty fifth graders are taken to
the mountains for safety by a nun who is to care for and teach
them. One morning a young man comes to their school hoping
to find a place for 10 children. The children are Jews who, if
found by the Nazis occupying France at that time, will be
killed. From that time on, the French children hide the other
children from the Nazis, share the meager food they get from
their ration cards, and find fun and love in a time of terror.
BERRIES GOODMAN moves from New York City to the
suburbs and feels uprooted and lonely—an outsider—til he
meets another outsider in his class, Sidney Fine. The situation
that develops when Sidney suffers a near-fatal accident, forces
Berries to recognize the power of prejudice, yet he does not
understand the reason for it.

before, found themselves German break through.
GHOST FRONT by Frank Bonham traces their separate
