Parents' Day
Activities
Approximately 200Q parents and
friends were on the Tarleton State
College campus Sunday, May 3, for
the annual Parents' Day observ-
ance.
The event is held each year to
honor parents of Tarleton's stu-
dents and to afford special-recog-
nition to those students who have
excelled in academic work and in
service to the school.
Queen Chosen
Ahighlight of the day was the
crowning1 of the Parent's Day
Queen, Miss Pamela McKay of
Pleasanton.
The attractive coed was crown-
ed by President 10. J. Howell at
the close of the awards ceremony
held at Memorial Stadium.
She is a junior majoring in
medical technology.
She was also chosen this year
as All-Tarleton Girl; was a mem-
bet' of the Homecoming Court in
19(53; and is president oi1 the Eter-
nas Social Club.
Academic Honors
Students recognized as gradu-
ates with honors were: John Tim
Moser, history major from Ste-
phenville; Mrs. Jo Carolyn (Den-
dy) Barnes, English major from
De Leon; and Charles Davis Bar-
tek, business administration ma-
jor from Temple.
Certificate of honor graduates
recognized were: Miss Mary Sue
Greenway, home economics major
from Stephenville; James Carroll
Read, agricultural education ma-
jor from Dublin; and Roger Wade
Smith, animal husbandry major
from Abilene.
Scholarship Winenrs
Miss Patsy Zimmerman of Ste-
phenville won the Tarleton Cam-
pus Club Uta Davis Scholarship.
Kenneth Dahlberg of Melvin and
Miss Natrelle Hedriek of Walnut
Springs were winners of William
Edwin Dyess Scholarships.,
Another Stephenville student,
Miss Monette Boyett, received the
Major William Clay, Jr., Memor-
ial Scholarship.
Mrs. Barbara Click of Lipan and
Henry Chris Beutelman of Dallas
won William Henry Sheffield
Scholarships.
Ashley Lovell of Gatesville was
winner of the Lewis Charles Link
Scholarship.
