that a goodly number of citizens
of Upshur County are laboring
under a wrong impression con
statements will not be tolerated
further and all such cases com-
ing to the attention of the board
will be reported to the Secret
Service Department for atten-
tion.
Naples for interment and his funoral
will take place at that place Sunday.
He was a former resident of this
county and at one time Su pt. of the
Gilmer High school, at the time the
Ward school building was erected,
and has many friends and relatives
in this county who will learn of his
death with deep i egret. .
Mrs. D. G. Webb of Glenwood,
an aged and highly respected resi-
dent of that place died Friday. She
leaves a husband and several grown
children besides a host of friends
to mourn her demise.

News was received here Saturday
of the death Friday of Mr. C. D.
Christian, nephew of Rev. J. R.
Christian of this city, whose death
occurred at the home of his sister at
Colgate, Oklahoma.
There was a good crowd in town
Saturday, and they had all kinds of
country produce to market
Cotton sold in Gilmer Saturday
for 271 cents per pound.

Miss Beaulab Briggs is visiting
friends iu Pittsburg.

been no change in the law on
this score, and* only where the
board believes it made an error
in its first handling of a case is.it
permitted to re-open any case,
and even then a re-opening does
not meen that a discharge will
follow. Many persons are visit-
ing the board with requests. to
have the board re-open cases
The board cannot re-open any
case without authority to do so
from the Adjutant General, and
will then re-open cases only to
secure additional evidence and
upon re-opening cases will act
with all the facts before it.

The Uhion through the Scien-
tific Temperance Instruction de
partment, has furpished the
school with a set of eight charts
— showing the effect of alcohol
and tobacco on the heart, also
manual and compendium of
truth. A silver medal has been
offered to the children making
the highest grade in Physiology
and was won this year by Vir-
ginia Amos, Miltun Stephens,
Sherman Elms.
The silver medals are still of-
fered in the classes this year and
a class of six,already holding the
silver medals will be eligible for
the gold medal which the Union
voted to offer. Mesdames Lon
Shepperd and W..W. Saunders
are County Superintendents of
the S T. I. department. We
are looking-with great hopes for
the development of our young
