Olne Last Night, the Olthcr This Morn-
ing—Damage Small.
The fire department was called to
719 Avenue H about 9:35 o’clock last
night to extinguish a blaze resulting
from a gasoline stove. The damage
was confined to a few dollars and con-
sisted of burning of the woodwork.
The stove was equipped with a glass
oil receptacle and something fell upon
the glass receptacle and the escaping
oil ignited. The owner of the stove
prevented an explosion or more serious
damage by removing a plug from the
other end of the stove and draining off
the burning oil into a bucket.
tThis morning at 9:25 o’clock an
alarm of fire brought the department
to 1711 Avenue M, where a fire was
started from a defective chimney.
The damage amounted to about $40 or
$50. The house, is owned by Thomas
Heckiman and is occupied by Joseph
Davis.
