White Motor vs. Tarleton
On Thursday night, June 14,
Tarleton played its first City1 Lea-
gue game yvith White Motor Com-
pany. All of the White Motor team
was not present; but after much
delay, the game got underway.
Tarleton's team was made up of
Alley, Shoup, Weiting, Wylie, Gu-
thrie, Davis, Black, Miller, Peters,
and McDaniel. Tarleton started off
strong, scoring sjx runs the first
inning. Most of the' game was
spent arguing with the umpire or
one team with the other. Shoup's
arm' tired in the fifth inning, al-
lowing White Motor eight runs.
Because of the lack of time, the
game was stopped, Tarleton com-
ing out on the low end of the
score, nine to seven. Tarleton, how-

ever, did not get its last time in

The Tarleton League was started
this past week with four teams' in
the league. These- teams are the
Los Cobbs,. First Ramp; Second
Ramp, and a new team known as
the Bosque Brats. This team may
be the dark horse of the league.
Let's hope they play better than
the name suggests. This team was
named by a certain girl in school.
I wonder why she chose such a
name!
Bosque Brats vs. Second Ramp
The first game of the league was
played between the Bosque Brats
and the Second Ramp on Tuesday,
June 19. The batteries were Davis
and Crow for the Bosque Brats and
McCann and Black for the Second
Ramp. Alley, Powell, and Foster
were hitting well for .the Second
Ramp while Weiting, Peters, and
Davis were doing the same for the
Bosque Brats. Toward the last the
game was vfery close. Finally, after
seven hard innings, the Bosque
Brats won by a score of ten to
nine.
Los Cobbs vs. First Ramp
Oh Thursday afternoon, June
20, one of the best games in a long
time was played between the Los
Cobbs and the First Ramp. The
First Ramp started off strong by
scoring four runs before the Los
Cobbs even scored. The Los Cobbs
came to life in the third inning,
however,' and scored eight run$.
After the fourth inning, the score
was very close all through the rest
of the game. Finally, after eleven
innings, the Los Cobbs came out
on top by a score of thirteen to
twelve. Both teams were hitting
freely with Wylie,' Davis, and Mil-
ler.hitting w;ell for the First Ramp
and Shoup, Allison, and Harrison
getting hits for the Los Cobbs.
The batteries for the First Ramp
were Warren and Miller. Shoup
and Harrison were the batteries
for the Los Cobbs.
I will close with this reminder:
Everyone come out and back the
team of your choice. You can make
the boys play better and add much
spirit to the game. Don't' forget
to come .out to Hunewell Park on
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday;
and to the ball games on Tuesday'
and Thursday.

Miss Martha Nix,
J-Tac Office.
Dear Miss Nix:
Four of the most handsome boys
in school wish to obtain' your ad-
vice as to a certain love problem
which we are all interested in. We
would like to go with four girls in
J.T.A.C. (any girls) but we don't
know how to break the ice. We are
all timid and very bashful owing
to the fact that we have had little
practice, but are very interested
in remedying the situation. Please
advise as we are very anxious to

Better Homes for Better Living!
Dear Enie, Meenie, Minie, and Joe:
There comes a time in every hoy's
life when he must face the depress-
ing question that you have asked
me. There is an old proverb which
states that "a boy becomes a man
when he is twenty-one." In my
opinion that proverb was misstated.
I think that a boy becomes a man
when he has gained enough courage
to ask a girl for his first date.
Boys, there are lots of cute girls
at Tarleton this summer who would
like to go out with you (aijy of
you), therefore, why don't you "get
on the ball" and ask them for
dates? If you don't liave enough
courage to ask them, the phone
number of the girls' "dump" is 523.
The best way to keep Oscar P.
Spirit alive is for all of us to have
a good time while we' are in Tarle-
ton. We all want to have memories,
to remind us of our school days af-
ter we are away. The dearest mem-
ories one can keep are of "love.",
I hope I have helped you settle
your problem. If you need any
further assistance, I will be more
than glad to help you.
I remain the authority on love,
Martha Nix.
