France’s Stavisky scandal trial
asked the court Tuesday for per-
mission to bring thetr nightshirts
before they are locked up to de-
liberate on the 1,600 questions ask-
ed. .since the trial began Nov. 4.
Judge Charles Barnaud replied:
“Important cases are not decided
here as in America and jurors are
expected to deliberate, not sleep."
