Tarleton's Plowboys provided lo-
cal fans with a thoroughly enjoy-
able game by defeating' the Deca-
tur' Indians 20-0 on Hays Field
Friday night.
The first score of the game was
when Casey Casstevens faded some
15 yards and with the aid of ex-
cellent blocking took plenty of time
and found Peacock in the end zone,,
cocked his arm, threw the ball,
and the Plowboys had six points.
The play was good for 20 yards.
Cameron held and Casstevens con-
verted. Score, Tarleton 7, Decatur
0.
The second touchdown came
when Keener powered over from
the six yard line. Casstevens' kick
for the extra point was wide,
In the third quarter the Plow-
boys scored again when Cameron
intercepted a pass qn the 25 yard
line from where he galloped into
paydire untouched by Indian hands.
Casstevens converted. "

Intramural sports will start in

different teams turn in their names
to Coach Flory. All touch football
teams should turn in their names
to the P, E. office immediately.
Anyone interested in tennis or box-

his office in the Gym. All boys in
John Tarleton are eligible to en-
ter any of. these sports.
The Plowboys were strengthen-
ed by the addition of three men
last week.' Harris Garrett of Bel-
ton was back with the team after
an absence. William Peacock, four
year detterman from Dublin, show-
ed promise while working out
with the squad, and Hartman, a
former Breckenridge star tackle,
reported to Coach Flory for prac-
tice Monday.
Coach Flory made a strong
appeal'to Tarleton students in
assembly last week asking
them to refrain from "booing"
officials of any game that the
Plowboys were participating in.
Nothing can make a team lose
their spirit quicker than faats
who cause mob scenes and
slanderous remarks thrown at
the opossing team can help
no one.

Claud Mattingly, a former Tar-
leton student from Austin who
graduated from here in 'July, it
now in the Navy, according to In-
formation furnished the J-Tae by
his mother, Mrs. Lela Mattingly
of X601 W. Gth St., Austin, Texas.
Claude enlisted in the Navy as
Seaman, First Class, and is now
acting petty officer. Having pass-
ed the radar test for admission,
he will enter the ■ Navy, Radar
Training school the latter part of
October.
Mrs, Mattingly says that Claude's
excellent training at Tarleton en-
abled him to pass the Navy's tests
successfully.

Students Support
Athletics, J-Tac
Two out of three Tarleton stu-
dents have bought the Grassburr.
Latest figures show that 954 Grass-
burrs have been sold.
The sale of athletic .tickets and
J-Tacs is close behin^l. 950 J-Tacs
and 834 athletic .tickets have been
sold. '
The number of Civic Series sold
is 518.'
Sale of the Grassburr and J-
Tac shows that Tarleton students
are behind the student publications.
Many more students will attend
the Decatur game than the athletic
ticket sales shows. Figures on the
sale of athletic tickets were ob-
tained just before a "big sale. Many
students waited . until just before
the first home game to buy theirs.
Sport Staff Looks
For Ex-Marines
Members^of the sports staff have
been working on information con-
cerning ex-Marines who are par-
ticipating in various athletic fields.
The information will be sent to
the United States Marine Corps
southern recruiting division with
headquarters at Dallas, Texas and
will be incorporated in a radio
script of Marine news to be broad-
cast over a Dallas station.
