Kansas Points Claim Diserimination in
Present Figures.
By Associated Press.
Kansas City, Mo., Oct. 22.—Further
arguments .on the complaint of Wichita
and Hutchinson commercial organiza-
tions charging that freight rates on
bananas from the Gulf of Mexico to
those Kansas points were unreasonable
and discriminatory in favor of Nebras-
ka, Iowa and South Dakota towns were
heard at the resumption of the inter-
state commerce commission investiga-
tion here.
Roscoe Hambrick, who said commis-

! ed that the Tcheberiak flat was a den
of thieves, and in 1905 during the out-
rages against Jews served as a deposi-
tory for pillaged goods.
Catherine Diakonoff related to Kras-
sovsky a story of visits paid by her to
Vera Tcheberiak’s flat about the time
of the murder of Yushinsky. She said
Vera Tcheberiak had displayed much
agitation. Three mysterious young men
were there when Catherine Diakonoff
arrived and they scurried out of the
room as she entered. When Vera Tche-
beriak heard Catherine Diakonoff had
been summoned to give evidence she
was alarmed, and begged her visitor to
say nothing about the three men, de-
claring she would not be taken alive.

Surveys Under Act of 1887 Are to Be
Disregarded.
By Associated Press.
Austin, Texas, Oct. 22.—Resurveys
made by the surveyors in the employe
of the state under an act of 1887 were
determined by the court of civil ap-
peals today not to be binding and con-
clusive and the original surveys hold.
This was the decision in the case of
State of Texas vs. C. W. Post. Form-
erly the court had affirmed the judg-
ment against the state, but on rehear-

state. New boundary lines will be de-

Washington, Oct. 22.—Diplomatic ex-
changes between Ambassador Pag’e and
the British foreign office with regard,
tc Great Britain’s attitude in Mexico
are likely to continue. Indications that
Sir Lionel Carden, British ambassador
to.Mexico, does not hold views in sym-
pathy with the American policy to-
tward the Huerta government had
caused concern to the Washington gov-
ernment, and while some officials de-
clare that th'ey are not seeking Eu-
ropean support at this time, it was
made plain that they did not desire
that any factor should be injected into
the situation at present from Europe
that would in any way impede the ef-
forts of th'e United States to deal with
the Mexican problem.
The American'government takes the
view that as the “nearest neighbor"
to Mexico the United States should
have a free hand in trying to bring
about a pacification.
It is not unlikely, therefore, that the
reported statement of the British min-
ister that the United States did not
understand conditions in Mexico will
be the subject of further inquiry with
the possibility that the episode may
bring out important dev'elopments. Of-
ficials declined to discuss Ambassa-

Declares Dallas Pro Meeting Will Be a
Partisan Affair.
Special to The Tribune.
Austin, Texas, Oct. 22.—Comptroller
W. P. Lane, candidate for governor, to-
day announced that he had cancelled
his reservation at the Southland hotel
at Dallas and will not attend the pro-
hibition elimination conference on Oc-
tober 25. He said:
“It is so unquestionably a partisan
affair, I do not feel justified in taking
part in the proceedings. It is a plan
to eliminate me from the race and
boost another candidate. I have de-
cided not to attend the conference and
will not be bound by its action.”
. By equipping an orchard heater with
a reservoir to hold additional oil and
feed it to the burner slowly, a Kan-
sas farmer invented a device that will
burn all night without attention.

London, Oct. 22.—London newspa-
pers are only just awakening to the
| possibility of an embroilment between
the United States and Great Britain
over the Mexican situation.
Their warnings heretofore have em-
anated from Washington and New
York correspondents, the views of the
British government, as made known
in the United States through the As-
sociated Press not having been pub-
lished here.
The Pall Mall Gazette today says:
“There is evidently a grave ’ misun-
derstanding between this country and
the United States in regard to the
Mexican crisis, which should speedily
be removed. There are elements of
■ 'danger in the situation which may
easily arouse strong feeling on both
sides of the Atlantic.”
“It cannot be denied that President
Wilson had some grounds for complaint
against British policy in Mexico,” says
the Globe today. The newspaper con-
siders that a grave mistake was made
by the British foreign offices in over
hasty recognition of Huerta, which
was in such marked contrast with its
dignified d’elay in recognizing King
'Peter of Servia.”
The Globe advances the view that

Kiev, Russia, Oct. 22.—Further evi-

her companions in the murder of An-

Krassovsky, former chief of police, who
took the witness stand when the trial

Krassovsky said that in his investi-

show Beiliss’ connection with the crime,
and his original suspicions of the Prid-
