Take on Okla. A&M
The "ICnights of Tarleton" will
be defending a recently won leader-
ship in the Southwest Fencing-
Conference when they meet Okla-
homa A. & M. April 3 for the
championship.
They recently carried the purple
and white of J.T.A.C. into an un-
disputed lead in the Northern
Division when they dragged the
mighty Texas Longhorns into the
dust as they hewed their way to a
convincing 5-4 victory,
The Tarleton foil men met world
renowned competition in Sarief
Faried and "Monty" Montaissier,
both of' whom are from the Egypt-
ian Royal fencing team. These two
men have been fighting since
childhood and were on the 1936 Southwest Fencing Conference after their win oxer the Texas Longhorns.
Egyptian Olympic team. At the
present time they are on a six year
tour of /the United States and, are
enrolled for graduate work at the
University of Texas.
Moss and Smith whittled the
Texas '3rd man, Wilson, down to
size as they both registered wins
of 5-4. Coach George W. Beakley
was the oftly one, however, who
was able to master the Egyptian's
style as he made up for lost time
and'scored wins of 5-3, 5-2, and
5-0 in hard fought contests.
With this win, Tarleton, now
holds^-an undisputed first place in
both foil and epee and second place
in saber.
Non-conference bouts have ten-
tatively beep scheduled with SMU
and Baylor University,

Led by 1947 all conference Paul

in four crips and a gratis toss to
