Klein went on to say that the stu-
dents do not like it when Net Night
gets canceled.
“About a year ago,” Klein said,
“we had to cancel Net Night within
24 hours of its scheduled time. We
posted as many fliers as we could to
get word out to the students who par-
ticipate, and the next day, they let us
know how unhappy they were about
it. They also asked us to please do all
we could do never to cancel it again.”
Carla Spann, a junior engineering
major, said, “I absolutely love Net
Night. I played a lot of volleyball in
high school, and this is my way of
having fun and staying in shape at
the same time.”
“I hope they never stop having it,”
Spann said.
According to Klein, as long as the
students want Net Night, they will
continue to have it.

Net night, which is open play vol-
leyball at the Physical Education
building, continues to draw students
out to play on Tuesday and Thursday
nights between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m.
“The students really love it,” said
Laura Klein, assistant director of the
recreational sports department.
“It has been a staple here for the
last six years,” Klein said. “It has
been so popular that I cannot remem-
ber when we did not have both of the
courts available to us running at the
same time.”
According to Klein, the students
decide if they want to play co-ed
games or if they want the teams
divided by gender.
“That’s something the students
decide if they are ready to play,”
Klein said. “Our job is to assist them
in any way we can, not to dictate how
they play.”
