Considerable interest was aroused
in the city court yesterday in a speed
case in which Durwood Dunn was
tried for exceeding the speed limit.
Motorcycle Officer Ezell pursued
the car which Dunn was driving be
yond the city limits. He alleges that
he was going at a rate of speed be-
tween 45 and 50 miles an hour when
he overtook the ear and that Dunn
was going almost as fast.

Esell drew his pistol from his pocket
and fired. According to Judge Fields
this was going beyond the authority
of the policemen, who in a case at
misdemeanor has no more right to use
a firearm than the ordinary eitisen.
Due to the fact that the gun was
used interest was keen and the city
court room was crowded with specta-
tors during the trial of the ease.
