Yesterday afternoon a committee
composed of T. L. Whaley, W. MJ
Pierce, Jr., Bryan Blalock and W. L.
Barry, representing the Chamber of
Commerce, appeared before the coun- ,
ty commissioners and put the matter
of laying the second coat of asphalt
on the Jefferson highway, which was
promulgated at the Directors meeting
last Tuesday, before them.
A statement was made some time
ago that aid coould be secured to lay
this second coat of asphalt on the,
Harrison Co., portion of the Jefferson
Highway and it was to help bring
about the necessary action to secure
this aid that the Chamber of Com-
■serve committee appeared before the
county commissioners.
Plans are being made for a com-
■ait tee to go to Austin next week to
meet with the State Highway Com-
mission in an effort to secure the pro-
mised assistance in order that the
next coat may be laid.
