presents information about three tax rates. Last year’s tax rate is the actual rate the taxing unit used to
determine property taxes last year. This year’s effective tax rate would impose the same total taxes as
last year if you compare properties taxed in both years. This year’s rollback tax rate is the highest tax
rate the taxing unit can set before taxpayers can start tax rollback procedures. In each case these rates
are found by dividing the total amount of taxes by the tax base (the total value of taxable property) with
adjustments as required by state law. The rates are given per $100 of property value.

Attends Workshop
The 1992-93 Jaguar Yearbook
Staff attended a three-day work-
shop presented by Taylor Publish-
ing Co. in Lubbock at Lubbock
Christian University July 20-22.
Some of the areas covered by the
workshop were how to prepare
spreads, write captions, develop the
theme, sell ads, and design the cover
for the coming year.
In the Cheer for Color competi-
tion the staff won eight free pages of
spot color for the 1993 Jaguar with
their song skit. Delia Garza received
one of the two honors given for
spread design.
Those attending with adviser
Marilyn Hale were students Lisa
Masterson, Hal Smith, Delia Garza,
Marcus Cave, Kala Jackson, and
Caryn Cave.

H Horse Show in Abilene for their
leadership, involvement and sup-
port of the 4-H Horse Program.
