the humorous to the somber will
be presented at Reunion '78 in
the Tarleton Center Friday night
as part of Homecoming
activities.
The-show will use the popular
TV program "The Gong Show"
as its model and will be
coordinated by Herbert Teat of
the music faculty,
"Wild man" Earl Lloyd will
be m.aster of ceremonies, with
Dinar Cotter assisting.
Such acts as Disco Quack and
Omar James Alvin Johnson will

Effective Oct. 1, 1978, The
Texas A&M University System
will no longer require
prospective employees to
undergo pre-employment
physical examinations. In lieu of
the examination, each new
employee will complete a
comprehensive medical
questionnaire. The questionnaire'
will provide a basis for
determining the new employee's
suitability for the duties
assigned, as well as provide
medical history required for
equitable administration of the
Workers' Compensation
Insurance Program.
Each prospective employee
will be advised that
employment, or continued
employment, is contingent upon
final, approval of the medical
history submitted, as interpreted
by the System Office of
Insurance and Risk Management.
This change does not mean
the prospective employee can
begin to work automatically.
Upon receipt of the student
work cards or written notice
from the hiring officials, we will
continue to process the
necessary paperwork on each

AAUW sponsors
book donations
The Stephenville branch of
the American Association of
University Women is sponsoring
a book donation drive Oct.
27-28 in the Youth Building of
the First United Methodist
Church.
All types of books will be
accepted and proceeds will be
used as fellowships to help
women further their educations.'
Donations can be taken to
collection boxes at the TSU
Campus Store, Shoes Etc.,'
Safeway, PigglV Wiggly, Buddies'
and McDonald's. At McDonald's
only, ten or less books entitle
■ the donqr to one free order of
french fries. Eleven or more
books entitle the donor to a free
"Big Mac".

Friday night at Reunion '78 in the Tarleton Center.

Dr. Neal seeks funds
for Upward Bound
* ***************
Dr. Linda Neal of the
mathematics faculty is seeking a
federal grant for an Upward
Bound Program at TSU. '/
The program would generate
'skills and motivation necessary,
for success in higher education.,
through academic training and
the Comprehensive Employment
Training Act (CETA).
Qualified students
would join during their
sophomore or junior year in high
school. They would come to
TSU once every other we^k for
tutoring and enrichment
programs, Dr. Neal said. During
the summers, they would spend
six weeks on campus, living in
• •• • - -
dorms and taking special
courses.
After students would
complete their senior year of
high school, they would be
required to take at least one
regular college course on
campus.'
The program, if approved,
will serve students -within a
fifty-mile radius: of Stephenville:
During the1 past summer,
fifteen area student's were
involved with a pilot Upward
Bound program. The'' suinmer
project, funded by the North
Central Texas Council of
