The baby knows nothing of crime. It knows only that there is night
and day and that the world beyond its mother’s arms matters little.
The mother, Mrs. Mary Creighton, 21. is held in the House of Detention
at Newark, N. J., awaiting trial June 1* on charges growing out of the
in death of her brother, Charles Rnyrpe nd Avery, who, police allege, was|G. G. (r
poisoned. The baby was born two weeks ago, after the mother’s ar-
rest. She says she will name him after his father, John Creighton. ,

Man Arrested Who Is Thought
To Know Identity of Girl
Who Directed a Killing
(By Associated Press)
.Chicago, June 6.—A dainty
girl is being sought as a bandit
murderer in one of the most
’extended police hunts on rec-
ord in Chicago. Eugene Seh-
lig. age 31, was arrested early
today. He is being held for
questioning. He is believed
by police to know the identity e
of the girl.
She is alleged to have shot
and killed Richard C. Tesmer,
a prominent insurance man, af-
ter directing the man accom-
plice in the holdup of Tesmer
and his wife outside the gar-
age at their home late last
night. After firing the shot, the
girl bandit snapped the com-
mands to her companion and
" leaped into Tesmer's automo-
bile and drove away. The
robbers procured about $10.
