Hair Raising Stunt* Put On
By Dare Devil* of Air At
Local Field Yesterday
(From Monday’s Daily.)
Between 2,500 and 8,000
persons saw the big flying
circus staged yesterday after-
noon from 3 to 5 by Chubby
Watson and R. W. Mackie un-
der the auspices of Angelina
post, No. 113, American le-
gion, at Berry's field, one mile
out, according to estimates
made. Hair raising stunts were
put on as had been promised.
Two airplanes were on the
program, one of these being
rated the fastest scout mach-
ine in Texas, same belonging
to Aviator Mackie. Chubby
Watson performed from the
wing of his machine by hang-
ing by his toes, one foot and
one hand, and stood on his
head on the wings and excited
his onlookers by his tricks on
a trapese while in the air.
A very interesting feature
of the circus was the para-
chute drop by Louie Cogdell
of this city, the young man
who drives the delivery wa-
gon for the American Railway
Express Company. Cogdell
did his trick like a veteran and
feels none the worse for his
descent from the air.
The flying circus was put
on at considerable cost to the
American legion. Post Com
