WORLD MYSTERY
The disappearance of the great
Table diamond, which weighed
about 243 carats, is .one of the
world’s great mysteries. It was the
property of an Indian king, who, to
raise money, placed it in the hands
of a dealer in precious stones. I
i ravernier, the great French trav-
eler, saw it in Golconda, India, in
1642, and was impressed by its size
and excellent quality. It is thought
that one of the Russian crown dia-1
monds, which was called the Table
diamond and weighed 68 carats, was
part of the great stone.
